Richmond Food Security Society

That all people in the community, at all times, have access to nutritious, safe, personally acceptable and culturally appropriate foods, produced in ways that are environmentally sound and socially just.

The Richmond Food Security Society manages all the City of Richmond’s community gardens, providing the community with garden space for a low rental fee.

By employing organic growing methods, the gardens enhance community parks, provide healthy food for community members renting the plot, provide social interactions, and create recreational activities, all while minimizing impacts on local ecosystems. Many gardeners donate excess produce to food banks and community meals.
